Instructional Assistant
The instructional assistant provides curriculum, classroom, and related support to the IEMBP and Bachelor of Midwifery Programs and the student services manager. They are the first point of contact for all program instructors for the delivery of the curriculum at UBC and other teaching sites in the province.
Bio
Marisa Ortiz is a UBC Science alum with a background in Life Sciences and Statistics. She previously worked at the UBC Equity & Inclusion Office before joining the Midwifery Program team. She is passionate about equity and inclusion in this space, including work around addressing Black maternal mortality and how midwives can be life-saving advocates for mothers of equity-deserving backgrounds of all kinds.
