Cecilia Jevitt and midwifery students Lana Barbir and Charlotte Grant represented UBC and BC midwifery at the January 27-29 Provincial Health Care Partners’ Planning Retreat in Vancouver. The retreat was co-sponsored by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC, First Nations Health Authority, the Province of British Columbia Ministry of Health, and the Doctors of BC. Almost two hundred health care providers and planners met to plan primary health care reform in BC. Using an appreciative inquiry foundation, the health meeting prioritized planning for and implementing team-based care, and improving access and health care quality to indigenous, rural and remote communities in BC.
