Clinical Skills Teaching

UBC Midwifery relies on clinical faculty preceptors in clinical placement and for clinical skills teaching throughout the year. Clinical skills teaching provides the opportunity for students to bridge the gap between theory and clinical practice.

Clinical skills instructors’ substantial service in supporting the education and preparation of the UBC Midwifery student is valued and esteemed. Thank you for your commitment to teaching future midwives of BC.

JaneApp

UBC Midwifery uses JaneApp to track and schedule our clinical skills and OSCEs training sessions. With our program expansion, we are now offering clinical skills teaching at three sites: Vancouver (BC Women’s Hospital), Victoria (Victoria General Hospital), and Surrey (Surrey Memorial Hospital). Please ensure you click on the correct location when signing up to teach.

Jennifer Nguyen, the Clinical Skills and Simulation Lead, has provided an instructional video below on how to apply using the JaneApp for additional support.

You can also find a sign-up with the button below.

The Jane App does not now allow you to use the Calendar view intuitively, so please refer to the linked calendar. This calendar will allow you to see which sessions are available each day for sign-up. Please use this calendar as a reference for signing up with the Jane App.

Current calendar – This calendar will receive updates. Please email midwifery.communications@ubc.ca if you have any questions.
