Policy and Procedure Statements
Preamble. The University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Midwifery Program (BMw) and its Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP) are jointly referred to as “UBC Midwifery” or the “Program”. UBC Midwifery follows all UBC regulatory requirements and applicable UBC policies.
Policy
Unsafe clinical practice involves egregious actions or behaviours which may result in adverse effects or the risk of adverse effects to the health and well-being (psychological or physical) of the client (including fetus or newborn), family, staff, faculty, or other students. Unsafe clinical practice is an occurrence, or a pattern of behaviour involving unacceptable risk. Please refer to the BCCNM Standard and Guidelines Code of Ethics.
- Non-Compliance with the Unsafe Clinical Practice Policy: The debarment policy will be invoked when the student demonstrates unsafe clinical practice. Students so debarred will have failed that course.
