Clinical Assistant Professor
Laura is a Clinical Assistant Professor and member of the Department of Family Practice Clinical Faculty Appointments and Promotions Committee. She has been active in clinical skills instruction and objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) since 2016, particularly with the Island Cohort of the UBC Midwifery Program. Laura has enjoyed a variety of clinical and educator roles in perinatal care since 2008, when she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the University of Calgary. After completing the Bachelor of Midwifery degree at UBC in 2015, she served the Western Communities of Greater Victoria in a shared care midwifery practice. Laura has a special interest in educational and workplace features that sustain interdisciplinary perinatal teams. She supports continuing professional development and compassionate care through involvement in coordinating hospital-based rounds. Laura is pursuing her research interests in nursing and midwifery education through graduate studies at the University of Victoria.
