Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) member support made it possible for the Co-op to assist frontline healthcare workers with donations of MEC label gear. As expectant mothers seek alternatives to hospital births, midwives are in high demand. UBC’s Midwifery Program was looking for an easy-to-clean bag to transport midwifery equipment and supplies. The bag needed to be easily cleanable to meet COVID-19 infection prevention standards. UBC Midwifery Graduates, 4th Year students and International Bridging students all received MEC Outpost Duffle Bags! Andrew Sutherland of MEC coordinated the donation. Andrew is the brother of Lisa Sutherland, RM, well known to BC midwives for her work with Perinatal Services BC as the Primary Maternity Care and Midwifery Lead. UBC Midwifery gives huge thanks to MEC, Andrew and Lisa for this useful, generous gift!
