Dr. Cecilia Jevitt is a leader in midwifery education, research, and clinical practice with over 30 years of experience. She trained at Emory University and earned a doctorate in applied medical anthropology from the University of South Florida. She has held academic positions at Frontier Nursing University, SUNY Stony Brook, and the University of Florida, where she established an academic division of midwifery.

From 2013 to 2018, Dr. Jevitt directed Yale School of Nursing’s Midwifery and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner programs while providing clinical care. She has contributed to international midwifery education, consulting on curriculum development in Switzerland, Laos, China, and Ghana.

A Fellow of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, Dr. Jevitt has served in leadership roles, including on the Board of Directors. Her research focuses on perinatal weight gain optimization and obesity prevention.

Dr. Jevitt served as Director of the UBC Midwifery Program from 2018 to 2023 and is now interim program director, continuing to advance midwifery education in Canada.
