Graduate Research Assistant
Bhavya Reddy is a public health researcher specializing in global maternal health. A doctoral student at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, she holds a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
With more than a decade of experience in implementation research and gender and health studies, Bhavya has contributed to WHO guidelines on antenatal care and worked on evidence synthesis to reduce mistreatment in childbirth. She has also been a faculty member for a WHO course on gender and intersectionality in health policy, where she developed a case-based module on respectful maternity care.
Her research, grounded in a social inequities lens, focuses on risk assessment in pregnancy, health system determinants of maternal mortality and morbidity, and capacity-building for community health workers in low-resource settings. Since 2015, her work has largely examined the drivers of mistreatment in childbirth and barriers to evidence-based intrapartum care.
