Natalie Amram, RM promoted to Clinical Assistant Professor!
In addition to her regular work as a clinical preceptor with Vancouver’s Pomegranate Midwives, Natalie has supported the program by tutoring interprofessional placements and managing the program’s test bank for the last two years. This recognition is so well deserved. Thank you, and congratulations, Natalie!

Professor Emerita, Cathy Ellis works with the Canadian Association of Midwives on improving midwifery education in Somalia
Their diploma program curriculum was approved by the Somaliland government. Cathy and CAM representatives taught the curriculum to midwives and physicians in Somaliland in the fall. UBC Midwifery students and other faculty members assisted with research and curriculum development. In December 2023, UNESCO inscribed “Midwifery: knowledge, skills and practices” onto its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This recognition underscores the universal significance of midwifery across diverse cultures.
