UBC’s Midwifery Program was established in 2002 and is the sole undergraduate education program for midwifery in British Columbia. A bridging program for internationally educated midwives was introduced in 2015. The Midwifery Program resides within the Department of Family Practice in the Faculty of Medicine. The Midwifery Program offers a four-year entry to practice baccalaureate program. The faculty is well known for their outstanding accomplishments in knowledge generation and translation related to educational technologies, home birth, international engagement, service to vulnerable populations, and humanities in the health sciences.
