Instructor I, Tenure Track

The UBC Midwifery Program in the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Instructor I, tenure track. This position is based in Vancouver, BC.

UBC’s Midwifery Program was established in 2002 and is the sole undergraduate education program for midwifery in British Columbia. A bridging program for internationally educated midwives was introduced in 2015. The Midwifery Program resides within the Department of Family Practice in the Faculty of Medicine. The Midwifery Program offers a four-year entry to practice baccalaureate program. The faculty is well known for their outstanding accomplishments in knowledge generation and translation related to educational technologies, home birth, international engagement, service to vulnerable populations, and humanities in the health sciences. The student population consists primarily of mature students with previous degrees in a wide range of fields. Graduates are well-respected and currently practice in both rural and urban areas of British Columbia and throughout Canada. Many practicing midwives in British Columbia contribute to the education of students as clinical faculty. The student body currently comprises 80 undergraduate and 8 bridging students.

The position will support the teaching needs of the Midwifery Program by developing and delivering curriculum in traditional classroom, seminar, and flexible delivery (i.e., distance) formats. The ability to teach a variety of courses within the program will be considered essential. The position will also participate in relevant service activities within the University.
